Pet Search & Rescue – Frequently Asked Questions
What is PetSAR?
PetSAR stands for Pet Search and Rescue. We use drone technology, including thermal imaging, to locate missing pets across various environments — day or night.
How does the process work?
You contact us immediately — time is critical.
We conduct an intake call and have you complete a short intake form.
We determine if drone-assisted SAR is a good fit.
If so, we mobilize thermal drones and begin the search based on key data you provide.
Once your pet is located, we help coordinate a safe and timely recovery.
What kind of animals do you search for?
We specialize in locating:
Dogs and cats
Livestock and horses
Exotic pets and other animals
If you’re unsure, reach out. Our Chief Pilot has over 40 years of experience working with animals from all over the world — we’ll assess and let you know if we’re a fit.
What if a drone isn’t the right tool for the search?
If we believe drone-assisted SAR is not the right fit, we’ll tell you upfront. Our priority is helping your pet get home — whether that means flying a mission or recommending another course of action.
How far can your drones search?
Our drones can scan large areas quickly — fields, marshes, woods, neighborhoods, and more — all from the air. Our thermal imaging helps detect heat signatures even in heavy cover or nighttime conditions.
Do you offer emergency response?
Yes. Emergency deployment is available depending on location and availability. The sooner you reach out, the better.
How much does it cost?
Standard pricing starts at $600 for up to 3 hours of search, plus travel. We also offer emergency and extended mission options — just ask.
What areas do you serve?
We’re based in the Lowcountry and cover most of South Carolina and Coastal Georgia. For other locations, reach out — we may be able to help or refer you to a certified partner.
Is this service only for lost pets?
No — we also assist with lost livestock, escaped exotics, and animal recovery support in disaster or wildlife scenarios.
